My mom grew up on the island of Jamaica until she was 10. During that time, she lived above her grandfather’s bakery, called Sunrise Bakery. We have a very large family, so there was no shortage of kids, aunt, and uncles buzzing around. Most of the family has immigrated out of Jamaica, and unfortunately the bakery closed.
50 years later, upon the legalization of Cannabis in New York, my cousin approached me with the idea to start a business selling drinks and baked goods under a name that paid homage to our family bakery.
